A Strategic Divestment in Vehicle Cleaning Technologies
Aumovio has signed an agreement to sell its windshield washer and cleaning systems business to the Munich-based industrial holding company Certina Group. The transaction includes production, research and development, employees and business activities. The deal is expected to close by the end of 2026, while the purchase price remains confidential.
The business is headquartered in Adršpach, Czech Republic, where around 700 employees work at the production plant. Its portfolio includes windshield washer systems, camera cleaning systems, sensor and headlight cleaning systems, as well as fluid supply solutions.
Sensor Cleaning Becomes Increasingly Important
While windshield washing may appear to be a traditional product category, the business also sits close to one of the most important technology shifts in modern vehicles: reliable sensor visibility. As advanced driver assistance systems depend on cameras, sensors and lighting systems, cleaning solutions are becoming more important to vehicle safety and performance.
The sale therefore involves more than a standard washer system business. It covers technology linked to increasingly complex vehicle architectures, where visibility, sensor function and fluid delivery are essential.
Certina to Develop the Business Independently
Aumovio says the transaction is part of its strategy to focus more strongly on technologies it sees as future growth and value drivers. The Certina Group, a family-run industrial holding company based in Munich, intends to develop the cleaning systems business as an independent entity.
Certina’s automotive division already includes several companies and reportedly generates annual sales of approximately €600 million. For the supplier landscape, the transaction reflects continued portfolio refinement as companies concentrate capital and management attention on selected growth areas.
