From Sport Suspension to Mainstream Replacement Parts
From Sport Suspension to Mainstream Replacement Parts
KW Automotive is expanding its ap brand with a new range of standard replacement shock absorbers. The brand has traditionally focused on lowering kits, sport suspension systems, sport shock absorbers and spring sets, but the new programme moves ap further into the everyday replacement parts market.
The vehicle-specific shock absorbers will be available individually and as complete four-piece sets for front and rear axles. The market launch will begin in Germany, Austria and Switzerland, with additional markets to follow gradually.
A Broader Suspension Programme for Workshops
The new range also includes selected levelling suspension kits, designed to maintain a largely standard vehicle height while subtly adjusting ride characteristics. Dust caps, elastomer springs and stop elements are also part of the programme, with further applications planned for pickups, SUVs and off-road vehicles in the light truck segment.
This gives ap a wider role in suspension supply, moving beyond enthusiasts and performance upgrades toward the repair and maintenance requirements of independent workshops.
Built Around Wholesale Distribution
KW Automotive is clearly positioning the expansion for the independent aftermarket. The new products are intended to reach independent workshops and brand-independent workshop chains through automotive parts wholesalers. TecDoc-compliant product data will be supplied, allowing the range to be integrated into common ERP and online shop systems.
The industrial foundation for the programme comes from the damping technology division KW Automotive acquired from AL-KO in 2021. Production facilities in Abadiño, Spain, and Fenghua, China, manufacture shock absorbers for passenger cars, commercial vehicles, buses, trailers and caravans. The move gives wholesalers a new suspension line with broader everyday repair potential.
