From Full Replacement to Targeted Repair
Schaeffler has launched new repair solutions for Stellantis vehicles equipped with the EMR3 axle, creating a more economical alternative to replacing the complete e-axle assembly. Until now, failures affecting the electric motor, reduction gearbox or related power-electronics components often resulted in the entire unit being swapped at high cost. The new offer changes that equation by giving distributors and workshops dedicated repair options for key modules. This is an important step in the maturation of the EV aftermarket, where vehicle populations are increasing and more units are moving beyond their original warranty periods.
Solutions for Motor and Gearbox Service
The Schaeffler E-Axle RepSystem-M and RepSystem-G are designed to support repairs to the electric motor and gearbox sections of the EMR3 axle. Each kit includes bearings, seals and detailed repair instructions assembled specifically for the application in original-equipment quality. Schaeffler is also supplying a dedicated repair tool that enables contact-free disassembly and assembly of the rotor and stator, helping technicians work safely around strong magnetic forces while reducing the risk of damage. The combination of parts, instructions and tool support gives workshops a clearer, more controlled route into technically demanding e-axle service work.
Power Electronics Now Included
A particularly notable development is the introduction of the Schaeffler Vitesco E-Axle PEU KIT, which addresses repair needs around the power electronics unit. This includes failures caused by damage to supply lines or connecting parts, such as coolant-hose issues or harness-related problems. Previously, such faults could still force a full axle replacement because spare parts were not available for localized repairs. The new kits provide components such as hose connectors, clamps, shielding parts, screws, wiring and sealing elements, supported by OE-oriented repair instructions including torque and installation sequence guidance.
A Milestone for the EV Aftermarket
With repair solutions now covering the motor, gearbox and power electronics, Schaeffler is effectively providing support for all three core modules of the EMR3 axle. The company says the program already addresses more than half a million registered vehicles worldwide. For independent workshops, that is commercially significant: it opens access to profitable EV repair work that would otherwise remain tied to expensive replacement strategies. For the wider aftermarket, the launch signals a broader shift toward component-level EV serviceability. As more electrified vehicles age, solutions like these will be essential for reducing repair costs, extending vehicle life and strengthening independent workshop participation in electric-vehicle maintenance.
