MAHLE, a global technology group, has successfully secured a €200 million contract to support vehicle electrification in China. The deal involves supplying DC/DC converters for an international car manufacturer, helping the OEM develop its future battery-electric vehicle lineup. MAHLE’s Changshu production facility will begin series production of these converters by mid-2028.

China: The Global Leader in Vehicle Electrification

China continues to lead the world in vehicle electrification, and MAHLE’s new contract further strengthens its position in the largest automotive market globally. “China’s innovation pace is remarkable, and we see significant potential for growth, particularly in electrification and thermal management,” said Dr. Roger Busch, MAHLE’s Head of Sales and Technology.

Efficient Power Distribution with DC/DC Converters

MAHLE’s DC/DC converters play a crucial role in vehicle electrification by reducing the high-voltage battery output from 800 volts to a safe 12 volts. This 12-volt supply powers essential systems such as cameras, multimedia setups, and electric pumps, ensuring they operate safely and reliably within electric vehicles.

Changshu Plant: A Key Player in Vehicle Electrification

MAHLE will produce the DC/DC converters at its expanding Changshu plant, a hub for e-mobility technologies with around 600 employees. This site will be pivotal in MAHLE’s strategy to support the growing demand for electric vehicles and contribute to the company’s electrification goals.

Strengthening Local Partnerships in China

In addition to serving international vehicle and engine manufacturers, MAHLE collaborates with leading Chinese OEMs. The company’s local production in China ensures a seamless supply of high-quality products to both the Chinese market and global automotive operations.

This contract marks a significant step forward for MAHLE in its mission to lead the automotive industry’s transition to electrification.
